Calendar and Announcement for the week of Nov. 7

The Mission of the United Methodist Church is to go and make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
Here are some ways you can do so.

Events on the Charge
• Nov. 8, Election Day Bake Sale at Northmoreland Fire Hall
• Nov. 8, 7:30 AM to 7:00 PM: Election Day Café at Center Moreland,.
• Nov. 13: Shoeboxes due for Operation Christmas Child
• Nov. 13, 3 PM: Ruth’s Place Walk-a-Thon, Wilkes Barre Public Square

During the past two years, Center Moreland UMC has “borrowed” over $14, 000 from our building fund to cover operating expenses. The likelihood of needing to transfer more from this fund, dedicated solely to the expansion of the church facilities, is very strong as the weather gets colder and heating oil and electricity use goes up. If you do not already regularly financially support the congregation and its ministries, please consider doing so.

Youth Mission Project: SoC is collecting toiletries for use by flood victims. Please bring in unopened toothbrushes and toothpaste, soap, shampoo, lotions, etc.
PIZZA SALE Orders are now being taken!

The Center Moreland Charge has begun collecting winter clothing items, such as coats, gloves, hats, long underwear, etc. for use by flood victims as the weather turns colder. As you bring out your winter clothing, please consider donating usable items this fall!

Blood Drive at Northmoreland Baptist Church, Ripple Brook Rd., Tuesday, Nov. 8 (Election Day), 1 p.m. - 6 p.m.

Ruth’s Place Needs Your Help – Because of budget cuts, Ruth’s Place has lost a considerable amount of funding. Please help by participating in the annual Walk-A-thon or consider a donation.

New Time for Bible Study
We will be continuing a study of the Old Testament books of Ezra and Nehemiah. The Bible study time has changed to Thursday at 3:00. Anyone who would want to join us should please just bring their Bibles.

Worship Times
8:30 and 11:00 Sundays, all year. (directions to the church are near the bottom of the page)

Soldiers of Christ
is Center Moreland UMC's youth group. They are best followed by linking to them through Facebook, but their meetings are often also announced in this blog. It is open to kids from 3rd grade and up, split into groups from 3rd to 6th grade, and 7th to 12th grade.

Sunday School
We offer Nursery/Preschool, Kindergarten - Second Grade, Third - Fifth Grade, Sixth - Eighth Grade, Ninth - Twelfth Grade, an Adult Men's Class and a Mixed Adult Class, all at 9:45 on Sunday mornings, year round.

Boy Scouts
Troop 336 of the Northeast Pennsylvania Council is chartered to Center Moreland UMC.

Girl Scouts
Daisy Troop 769, Brownie Troop 436, and Junior Troop 263 are all part of Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania, and are chartered to Center Moreland UMC.

Directions to Dymond Hollow

From Center Moreland Corners ((intersection of Demunds Road (Dallas), SR 292 E (Tunkhannock), and Creamery Rd, next to the Centermoreland Deli)):

1. Drive about 1.4 miles, turn right onto Brace Rd.
2. Drive about 6/10 of a mile, turn left onto Armstrong Rd.
3. At the next intersection (Village Rd.), the road changes names to Dymond Road.
4. About a mile and a half, you will see a sign for Dymond Hollow UMC. Turn left, you will see the graveyard and the church. Parking is behind the building.

From West Pittston:

1. Go north on 92 (Sullivan Trail), along the river.
2. Turn L onto Lockville Rd.
3. After about 1.8 miles, turn rt. onto Church Rd. The church is on the right, please park behind.

For GPS directions, please use the address 553 Church Rd., Exeter Twp, PA.

Directions to Center Moreland UMC

From the streetlight on Tunkhannock highway (315) at Center Hill Rd.:

1. Turn right onto Hildebrandt Rd.
2. Turn immediately left onto Upper Demunds Rd.
3. The road will turn sharply left after about 1.5 mi., but will either be called Upper Demunds Rd. or Sedler Road.
4. After about 2.75 miles, you will come to a 4 way intersection. There is a bar at the corner (The Shindig Inn). Turn L, and continue on what is now Demunds Rd.
5. After about 2.4 miles, there is another dogleg. Bear left, following Demunds road.
6. After another mile, you will come to Centermoreland Corners. SR 292 E crosses in front of you, the Centermoreland Deli is on your right, and Creamery Rd is directly ahead. Drive forward for about an 8th of a mile, then turn left into the FIRST driveway (the second is the exit!)

From West Pittston:

1. Go north on 92 (Sullivan Trail), along the river.

3. Drive about 3.5 miles, the road changing names twice, first to Dymond Rd., then to Armstrong Rd.
4. Turn right onto Brace Rd, drive for about ½ a mile.
5. Turn left onto SR292E, drive about 1.4 miles to Centermoreland Corners.
6. Turn right. Onto Creamery Rd. and turn left into the first driveway.
